HOSPITALity
I put together this video of my sweet Penelope and husband while we were all in the hospital. It's funny to me that I still get emotional every time I watch this video! (i've watched it maybe a 100 times or more) But I just love my family I guess.... I had the absolute best experience in the hospital with all the staff and the way everyone treated me. Even though I was 1 in 1000 of patience they still managed to make me feel like I was the only patient in that day. My delivery nurses were so nice to me. One of them kept saying you better wait to delivery till after i'm done helping this other patient deliver because I would be upset to not help you and see your little one. Me and her bonded the whole entire time. Turns out that she use to work at the hair school I use to attend to so she was just awesome. Everyone was just so kind to help me especially through the amount of pain I was in. After I went home I got a card from all the nurses ( i'm sure once again they do that to everyone but it still made me feel special). But I got a specific individual letter from one of the nurses that was extremely personal and kind of her to go out of the way for her to write me that letter because I know thats probably someone that has her patience last on her to think about list when she gets home. But what an awesome act of kindness. Not to mention I by far have the best doctor in the world!! He sent me flowers when I got home!

Birth Story: Penelope Dene Johnson
Hello I am back.. and I am back with a precious newborn baby. I wish I could of blogged earlier but being a new mom it was hard for me to blog and get the hang of this mom title! But I am here to make the first appearance of my beautiful daughter Penelope Dene (duh-nay) Johnson and tell you the story of her birth.
On monday August 18th I felt extremely weird and I kind of felt pre labor pain and I wasn't sure what was really going on I just felt different then normal. I had a feeling all day I should probably go to the hospital but I didn't want to go and then end up getting sent home seeing how that happened once before. I was texting my friend Emily and Kali all day and night asking if I should go in. Kali is a RN and Emily is a mom of a 3 year old so they new a lot more than I did. So I decided to make a decision to just sleep and wait for my doctor appointment that was the next day. All night I was tossing and turning in labor pain. So the next day Travis was at work and my doctors appointment was at 3 so travis would have to miss my appointment. But I was just not feeling right I had the worst head ache and my pelvic was killing and I was having serious pelvic pain. Both Kali and Emily kept telling me it sounds like labor and that I should just go into the hospital but still I waited till my appointment. So I texted my sweet husband and I asked if he could get work off because I had a feeling I was going to be delivering that night. Surely Travis was home and my appointment came and I sat down for them to check me and I had gained 6 pounds in 5 days, my blood pressure was super high, my feet were more swollen than normal, I was seeing spots, and I had protein in my urine. Finally they stuck me in a room and my doctor walked in did a quick check I was 100% effaced and dilated to a 2. He said well you ready to have a baby because you are having her tonight. As we got in our car and started driving I broke down and started to cry. Things really hit me that I was about to be a mom in a matter of hours. As we checked in and got everything settled they started my pitocin and my labor immediately started to progress and by immediately jumped to a four within a half hour. and I was in so much pain I had back labor and it was horrible they asked me if I wanted to get my epidural and I wasn't ready I wanted to wait till I was dying in pain. so they gave me medicine that just kind of calms you. After about 20 minutes my labor jumped from a 4 to a 7 and my labor was BAD!!! I was ready for that epidural. Well the the person who does them was in surgery and I had to wait about an hour. By that time I had got a system down that every time I would get a contraction and since it was in my back travis would push on the spot to help relief some of the pressure cause I had the worst pain i've ever felt. Finally the guy came in rolled me over and gave my epidural and I can honestly say I did not feel a single thing because I was in that much pain. But instantly the pain went away and i didn't feel a single thing. So they checked me again and I was at a 9 in 4 hours. All the nurses were freaking out because they knew I would be delievering in just a few quick hours because my labor was going so fast. I asked for a blessing and after just 7 quick hours of labor and almost having a natural birth my Penelope Dene was born. When she came out they had to take her immediately because she drank some of the fluid and got it in her lungs. I could not stop crying, looking over at travis and seeing him holding her hand and just in awe that it was his was so beyond touching. Finally about 30 minutes later they brought her to me and thats when the real water works started. I looked at her and I knew that she was mine. It was like I have known her my whole life she was just so familiar and she was mine. Skin to skin was so incredible because all she wanted was me. Travis captured an amazing photo of her about 10 minutes after I held her, she looked at me and knew I was her mommy. She just starred and starred. What a beautiful time it was for me and I love my husband more now than ever. I love my family more than love can love.
